We are part of the South Bay Surgeons family. For more than 25 years, nestled in Torrance, we’ve provided quality bariatric care for our patients while paving the way for future medical and surgical innovations in the realm of weight loss medicine. Since the practice was formed in 1995, our surgeons have performed countless weight loss surgeries. You can feel confident that our surgeons have the experience needed to provide the best possible care. And now, many of these surgeries can be performed using minimally-invasive techniques. This benefits patients in many ways – smaller scars, less pain, and quicker recovery.

  • Open surgery – An open operation means a large incision cutting the skin and tissues so the surgeon has a full view of the structures or organs involved.
  • Minimally invasive surgery – Minimally invasive surgery refers to surgery that does not require a large incision. Another term is “Key Hole Surgery”. This usually involves the use of a video camera and small slender instruments. These instruments can be directly held by the surgeon (laparoscopic) or controlled by a machine through a console (robotic). This approach allows for faster recovery with less pain. Not all conditions are suitable for minimally invasive surgery.
